LB3’s experience extends beyond technology and telecommunications transactions to corporate law, commercial transactions, employment and consulting arrangements, and commercial disputes. As a result, LB3 is increasingly asked by early- and mid- stage technology companies to serve as their outside general counsel. Under such an arrangement, the client keeps LB3 apprised of its activities through regular meetings, reports, and correspondence, and LB3 uses its familiarity with the client’s business to provide counseling, handle routine legal matters, identify material risks, and assist in the management of those risks.

One of the benefits of working with LB3 as outside general counsel is that each client’s matters are handled by experienced senior attorneys (at rates far below those typically charged by big law firms), rather than junior lawyers who are still in the apprenticeship stage of their careers. For the client, this means high-level attention to their needs, ready access to partners, quick turn-around, effective decision-making, and lower costs.

LB3 handles matters within our areas of expertise directly. In consultation with the client and on its behalf, we coordinate the work of other outside attorneys when their assistance is required. When a client is already using counsel with particular legal expertise (in areas such as patent prosecution, bankruptcy, or real estate) and has been pleased with that work, LB3 cooperates with that counsel to serve the client’s needs. When a client does not have (and needs) counsel in a field that is outside of our expertise, LB3 is well-positioned to suggest highly qualified attorneys whose work we know first-hand.
