Sprint’s iDEN migration mess

Companies that have installed Nextel in-building systems to enhance the indoor use of their iDEN (i.e., Nextel) push-to-talk devices may be left without in-building enhancement service as of June 30, 2013, when Sprint shuts down the Nextel (iDEN) network.
Sprint has indicated that it will replace enterprise customers’ Nextel handsets with CDMA push-to-talk devices at very attractive prices in advance of the network shutdown. Outdoor use of the new CDMA devices should not be an issue. Indoor use, however, may be another story.
